Problem/Question Recommended Actions/Answer

The boundaries of the guidance system are dislocated.

The floor in VR is tilted.

The floor in VR is at the wrong height level.

Reset the virtual reality play area:

  1. Start the SteamVR application.
  2. Right-click the SteamVR window.
  3. Select Room Setup.
  4. A Room-Scale Setup is required.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Detailed instructions can be found here.

The controllers will not switch on.
  1. Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds to see if the controllers come on.

  2. If the controllers do not switch on, connect them to a micro-USB cable to charge them. Whilst plugged in, an orange LED indicates that they are charging. A green LED indicates that they are fully charged and on. A white LED indicates that they are fully charged and off.

The controllers automatically turn off.
  1. Make sure that the controller is charged.

  2. Check that the status light on the controller shows as green, which means that it is paired with the headset.

  3. If the status light does not turn green, ensure that the headset is on and then try re-pairing the controllers via the SteamVR application on the workstation.

  4. Click the icon in the top left-hand corner of the application and then go to Devices > Pair Controller and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process.

The controller won’t turn on after it was accidentally unplugged during a firmware update.
  1. Using a micro-USB cable, connect the controller to one of the workstations USB ports.

  2. From the workstation, open the SteamVR app.

  3. Once the controller is detected by the SteamVR app, follow the on-screen prompts to complete the firmware update.

The base station LED is red.  Contact Innerspace Support to help you resolve this issue.
The base station LED is blue.
  1. After switching the base station on, the LED will initially be blue while it is stabilizing. After a few seconds, this should turn green.

  2. If it does not turn green, please check to make sure the base station is mounted securely, as vibrations can cause it to get stuck in the stabilization mode.

The base station LED is purple. If the LED is solid or blinking purple, the base stations are having trouble seeing each other. Make sure nothing is in the way.
The virtual reality user experiences tracking issues (drifting or floating movements).
  1. Ensure that any source of direct sunlight into the room is covered with internal blinds or curtains.

  2. Ensure that all other reflective surfaces (windows, mirrors etc.) in the room are covered.

  3. Ensure that there is always a clear view between the headset and the wireless link box.

See Room Requirements for reference.

The virtual reality user experiences a blurry field of vision during the training.
  1. Use the cleaning cloth found in Box 4 of the HTC VIVE Pro set to clean the inside of the headset lenses. Instructions on how to correctly do this can be found on the Cleaning the Headset Lenses article on the VIVE Support website.

  2. Before fitting the headset, use the documentation also found in Box 4 to measure your interpupillary distance (IPD). Remember this measurement and then when you put on the headset, set the IPD to this value. As you adjust the IPD, you'll see a prompt indicating the current distance between the center of the lenses. A visual guide for this can also be found on the Adjusting the IPD on the Headset article on the VIVE Support website.

  3. Ensure that you are wearing the headset correctly. If the headset is too low on your face, your display will appear blurry. Guidance is provided by HTC in this Video.

  4. The headset's bottom edge should rest on your cheekbones, while the standard strap should cup the back of your head. You should feel comfortable bending down without the headset slipping off.
The headset display is black, and no image is displayed.
  1. Check to ensure that the cable between the VIVE Wireless Adapter and the headset is properly connected.

  2. Ensure that the power bank is connected properly to the VIVE Wireless Adapter by unplugging and reconnecting the USB cable.

  3. Ensure that the power bank is charged and switched on. The green lights indicate the battery level.

  4. Close and re-open the SteamVR and VIVE Wireless applications.

If this does not fix the issue, check the Workstation and Applications Troubleshooting page for more information.

Can I wear prescription glasses whilst using the headset?
  1. Yes, it is possible to wear glasses whilst using the headset.

  2. To accommodate for this, the lens distance should be adjusted.

  3. Refer to the Adjusting the Lens Distance article on the VIVE Support website, which provides instructions on how to do this

The VR video stream is lagging or stuttering. Ensure that the VIVE wireless sensor has a clear view of the headset. Check the signal strength in VIVE Wireless, indicated by the connection bars. Close all applications and restart VIVE Wireless.
Wireless Receiver does not turn on (no green LED). Make sure that the power bank is charged and properly connected to the wireless receiver on top of the headset. Press the image-removebg-preview Button to turn on the power bank. It might take a few seconds for the headset receiver to activate.
